Customizing Sony Vegas, Pg. 2

Inside of Vegas, there are a set of Preferences the average use never has seen. To access these Preferences, hold the SHIFT key down while accessing the Preferences via either right clicking in the Track header, or from Options>Preferences.

You'll see a tab marked "Internal" when the Preferences open up.

In this new Preferences dialog, you'll see mostly values or True/False indicators. What we're looking for here, is the preference that controls the way the Timeline and Docking windows are laid out. In the bottom of the Internal Preferences, you'll notice a dialog box.  Type the word "DOCK" into this box. This will limit the search to any parameter containing the word "DOCK."

There should only be one field apparent after you enter the word "DOCK."

The parameter will display the word FALSE in it's value. Double click the word FALSE and it will highlight. Enter the word "TRUE" in this value box. This will flip the docking surfaces so that the timeline is on the bottom rather than the top of the workspace, and enable you to have all your docking windows in the top/upper area of your monitor.

Now the Timeline and docking areas are reversed. I personally find this very useful when working with monitors at slightly higher than eye level, because it puts the Timeline at my eye level or slightly lower, saving neck strain.
