Conversion from Canon Vixia HF10 to
Panasonic DVCPROHD 720p24 with Color Correction
This custom preset changes the frame size to 720p (960x720) and recompresses into the DVCPROHD codec so that the footage seems as if it were shot on a Pansonic video camera. It also provides a rough color correction to match to the HVX200.
1. Apple > Other Workflows > Advanced Frame Conversion > High Definition > DVCPOR HD 720p24
2. Duplicate Selected Setting
3. Change name in Inspector, e.g. DCVPROHD 720p24 HF10 RevTel
4. Under “Encoder”, Video: [Settings…] choose “Enabled” to launch the settings Panel.
5. Then set Frame Rate to “Custom” and 23.976 fps. (below)
6. Under “Frame Controls” (click star to enable) , then Frame Controls: “On”
7. Then under “Deinterlace:” pull down to “Reverse Telecine”.
Optional Color Correction Select “Filters” in Inspector You can then enable and make changes to the filter settings. I suggest performing some color correction on the captured MOV file first to learn what kind of changes you want to make, and then putting those changes in the preset. In this example I was trying to match Panasonic HVX200 footage, so I increased the Contrast by +20 and then I increased the saturation by setting Highlights, Midtones, and Shadows each to +23.
8. Contrast = +20
9. Color (Highlights, Midtones, Shadows) (R,G,B) = +23
10. Save the changes. Use your new custom preset as any other Compressor preset.
