Review: Movie Outline 3, Pg. 4

Performance
For Windows uses, this software requires Windows 7, Vista, XP, or 2000; 1GHz processor or higher; 56 MB hard disk space; 512 MB RAM; and a CD-ROM drive. Macintosh requires OS X 10.4 or higher; PowerPC G4, G5 or Intel; 1 GHz processor or higher; 84 MB RAM; and a CD-ROM drive. I have Windows Vista on a two-year-old Acer, and didn't have any problem at all running this software, even while playing music or YouTube videos.

Another helpful feature is the Scene Cards tab.

Value
At $199.95, Movie Outline runs around the same as many other high-end screenwriting software programs. It has a lot of options available, and could be a good tool for a beginning writer who seriously wants to break into the industry. A more advanced or "freestyle" writer might be frustrated by the emphasis on structure and basic screenwriting. Movie Outline Software does offer a free demo download on their website, so its definitely worth trying out either way.

Final Comments
For the beginning screenwriter, Movie Outline would be a great learning tool and introduction to screenwriting. Even the more advanced writer might enjoy that this program has more emphasis on structure and a unique take on the creative process.
