RED cherry, Pg. 6

The RED One is a great tool that can definitely improve the look of your project and help take it to the next level. However you need to be sure that your team and abilities are up to scratch before leaping in. It is imperative to plan your shoot even more than you would normally, as the RED is unforgiving of mistakes on set. Microfilmmakers always need a healthy dose of luck on any shoot and using the RED can really test how much you’ve been granted.

I cannot describe how hot it was in this shot.

One of the only night shots we took, lit by a single 2k.

As I mentioned in the beginning, this is only a perspective from my limited practical experience with the RED in a micro budget environment, and not an exhaustive account of the camera’s capabilities and performance. I am still a big fan of the RED, but have a much more realistic appreciation of its faults and limitations. Hopefully, RED will continue to improve and sort these problems out and I look forward to using the upcoming SCARLET and EPIC.
