NAB 2010 for Microfilmmakers, Pg. 6

As we know, Adobe announced the 64 bit CS5 with great new features like Rotobrush (an almost automatic rotoscoping tool) and an all new video engine for Premiere Pro.   All of the FX Plug In manufacturers were announcing their upgraded 64 bit versions to keep up with the big change.  Red Giant and Re:Vision Effects have been tirelessly working to upgrade their programs, and a very noticeable speed increase has been achieved.  Look for more from Red Giant coming soon!

Another high profile LED lighting manufacturer showed off its latest camera light, the Brute 3, while it's distributor, ESS announced a monumental sponsorship of Film Independent, an organization designed to help independent filmmakers learn, grow, and finish their films!  ESS and Hollywood Rentals will provide scholarships, complimentary lighting rentals, and access to the latest equipment such as LEDZ lights for all Film Independent members.  If you'd like to know more about Film independent, check out their website.

As a general note, it would seem that NAB was a good marker that things are definitely turning around with the economy. Companies made huge purchases, and everyday filmmakers spent quite a bit of money as well. It was encouraging to see so much new technology embraced by everyone from Hollywood to Holland. We will look at several of the new products in depth in future issues of MicroFilmmaker!
