NAB 2010 for Microfilmmakers

The mantra of NAB this year was "I'm a Broader-caster," with an obvious focus on web based content.   Larger companies who have relied on the major film and television industries to survive were shown that they are missing a broad market being serviced by rising brands who know that having high quality at a low price will help you to ship more units.  I searched throughout the show and have put together some highlights of new tech as well as items specific to the needs of microfilmmakers.

Redrock lets you build your own DSLR setup.

Award of SuperiorityFor the MFM Award of Superiority for the best showing at NAB this year, definitely has to go to the guys at redrock micro.  Surprises galore at the booth, if you could get near it.  Constantly packed with both microfilmmakers and film professionals, redrock has seriously stepped up their game.  Always known for high quality, they have started creating products with more features and BETTER quality than their expensive equivalents.

Redrock quality steps up a notch!

Redrock Cinema Follow Focus with quick release.

First thing to mention would be their upcoming line of follow focus systems.  With adjustable stop marks, high quality construction, and optional dual sided cinema follow focus, there is something for everyone...and at a fraction of the price of Arri's line.  Also, after pining for what feels like decades, redrock has finally announced the launch of their remote follow focusing system!  This summer marks the release, and there will be both wired and wireless solutions.
