Scorching the Camera:
Creating Composited Fire in After Effects

Overview:
In this tutorial, I will show you how to construct a black screen to film real fire and how to composite it in After Effects. You can buy royalty free video of fire, but part of the fun and satisfaction of independent film making is doing it yourself. This tutorial gives you a cheap way of doing it your own way, giving you more flexibility to fit your desired shot!

What you will need:

  • Black paint/ Spray $3
  • Wooden board or cardboard (as big/small as you want- price depends) $4
  • Equipment for fire (matches and paper)
