Magic Bullet Looks, Pg. 4

It won't take you long to get used to the easy manipulation of these tools, and soon you will be experimenting with several different custom looks, putting together your own favorites. If any of the settings you perfect are going to be used on multiple clips, you can save the specific look you’ve created and attach it to other clips as you wish. Simply go up to the file tab in the Looks Builder and click on Save As, and title your look. Whenever you need to use it again, you will be able to add it without doing all of the adjustments again. If you decide to make changes to your looks later on, you can just hit the filters tab on your clip in the viewer, and click 'Edit.' Save any changes you make to the look, and it will save them in every clip you have used that particular look.

Click on the Edit button in your filter tab to make adjustments later.

I recently spoke with an Academy Award-winning cinematographer, and had the chance to ask a few simple questions. In a recent film of his, the lighting was so dynamic it seemed unreal. Obviously, I was looking for some clues as to how he achieved some of these looks. His answer was a little disappointing, yet encouraging, “I just light everything really flat and we make lighting decisions in post.”

With this knowledge, I believe you can use the tools that are at your disposal to create extremely high quality projects, no matter what your budget. As far as making a decision on what to buy, I personally have found Magic Bullet Looks to be extremely useful and more powerful than most of the other "visual look" plugins on the market. It’s easy to use and gives you high quality tools that you can use to make decisions in post for shots that aren’t so easy to create during production.
