Another View of SIGGRAPH, Pg. 4

Through access to the pixel data in the digital footage, you are no longer constrained to the restrictions that were commonplace in older software. Cinnafilm HD1 is not confined to resolutions and frame rate of the native file it begins with. What this means is that the user has the ability to change resolutions on the fly. You can take film that you’ve shot in 720p and either lower to web quality or up-res it for HD, all in real-time. If the movement looks too harsh, you can also add motion blurring with unprecedented accuracy. Want to speed-up an action or slow it to a crawl? Cinnafilm HD1 can do both without leaving behind visible ghosting and artifacts that are so apparent using today’s techniques. And the truly astounding thing about how it achieves all these effect is that it is able to calculate and add or take away entire frames that never existed in the original footage, creating a seamless experience. The end result completely leaves the competition far behind.

So now that your appetite has been whet, the question is how does one get access to this technology? Well, currently Cinnafilm HD1 is available in two flavors. For the mainstream professional with a bigger bankroll, the software and hardware can be leased for $4,000 a month on extended lease (or $8,000 for a single month). That way, if there are any significant updates to the software and/or hardware, that is given to you with no extra cost. Now for the independent filmmaker, this pricing is a bit overkill considering that you don’t produce enough work to justify that type of expense. Well, Cinnafilm also allows people send their footage or come by their studio to get it processed at $75 a finished minute. So once your work is complete, you can have it output to either Windows .avi or Quicktime .mov format. This is a great service when you consider that it’s a lot cheaper than your standard digital-to-film transfer and also allows you the filmmaker to have input on a more controlled final output.

Cinnafilm HD1 has excellent results when it comes to color grading of digital footage.

From the outset, Cinnafilm has taken great measures to provide a quality service to its clients and audience. They have worked hard in the last few years to seek feedback on the product and make sure that they are meeting needs and challenges of the clientele. Whether your mainstream or independently funding your own projects, Cinnafilm has what you need to push the standards higher for both parties.

Multiple effects can be layered over top of each other using this robust program.
