RG: How did you come up with the idea to do the voting? It's very similar to those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, or to role playing games.
AD: That was all Brad Winderbaum's doing. He said if we're going to put something on the web, why not use the web for it's interactive ability, and he came up with the voting platform.
RG: How many votes do you get each month?
AD: We haven't made that number public yet, but I can say the show has been viewed over 3 million times.
RG: Do you try to predict how people will probably vote, and plan accordingly? Or do you think people deliberately vote against the grain to throw you off?
AD: We have tried to write choices that we hope people would vote for, but that definitely didn't always happen. However, that's fine, as some of the best episodes were the unexpected ones.
RG: Why did you originally decide to commit yourself to doing one episode each month? Why did you switch to doing it every week?
AD: All we could do was one a month because of the turnaround with voting and because we all had day jobs. Brad was an assistant on the movie Iron Man (coming out May 2nd), Marc was producing for videojug.com, I was working for an ad agency, and Diahnna was bartending. Once things started taking form we were all able to dedicate more time to the project, and started to release them in a 3 week turnaround instead of 6 week, plus when we launched numerous shows, it allowed for there to be something new every week.
RG: Are there any specific things you're doing to keep the budget down?
AD: We write for what we have access to. We won't write an episode with an Aston Martin getting driven off a mountain because we don't have the mountain or the Aston Martin. It's amazing how easy it is to turn a bedroom into a psych ward though, hahaha.
RG: I can imagine. Do you hope to gain anything financially from this project, or are you mainly hoping to use it as a springboard for larger projects?
AD: Yes, we do hope to gain financial success, and plan to with our next project, The Knights of a Hundred Sorrows.
RG: Very interesting. You'll have to let us know more about that when it comes out.
Now, will there be a DVD compilation?
AD: There will totally be a DVD, since the series will come to an end at Episode 24... We hope to release the series soon after the finale.
RG: Do you get tired of this? It seems like a lot of dedication is needed on your part, and on the part of the actors. No vacations for you, especially now that you're creating multiple shows! How long do you think these series will go on?
AD: I can't say I've become tired of it. I've always believed it was an incredible opportunity, and so have the others who have worked on it.
RG: Thanks a bunch for taking the time to do this interview. I definitely wish you continued success with the show, and with your career in filmmaking!
AD: Thank you!
