Spotlight on John Moylan, Pg. 3

JH: I recently used OnLocation CS3 on a film I just co-directed and it was amazing how useful it was. I know you're going to love that new element on your feature. So, what sort of timetable are you aiming to accomplish in regards to converting this trailer into feature reality?

JM: I ask myself that question often. I would hope to have the movie complete by next summer at the latest to be in time for the national festival circuit. But with the new software package making life a lot easier it may be sooner than that.

JH: Now that we've heard some more about your upcoming film, what are some future plans you have for yourself as a filmmaker?

JM: I had been tempted to start a new project but knew I would have to finish “The Mark” first before I got sidetracked. My brothers and I have been talking about a few new stories to shoot. I had written some Sci fi short stories a few years back and always imagined them being realised on film. An Irish science fiction movie, now that’s something you don’t often hear of.

“The Vector” was my first short story involving time travel, which won the Irish Sci-Fi story competition, and I always wanted to make that into a film. In fact back then Martin had even drawn up several of the storyboards. But I wrote “The Mark” specifically because I felt it was logistically easier to shoot as the other stories required hundreds of extras and, since my family isn’t that big, we made this film with all three of my brothers Martin, Mike & Pat and my youngest daughter Lisa. Needless to say I am very thankful to them for their fantastic efforts.

JH: Well, John, this has been a great conversation. I think that all of our readers are looking forward to your upcoming film. Please keep us updated as things progress, because I guarantee we'll want you to write an article or two along the way.
