Review: Holomatrix, Pg. 3

You can make many adjustments, including colors.

Value
It can definitely get expensive when you start dropping cash for every single plug-in out there. My rule of thumb is to get the effects you would use most often, or those that have the most options. Other effects can be purchased on the day that you decide you need them, since the internet allows for instant downloads. I always find myself wishing I had the time to put together effects like this, so having this at my fingertips is important. There are many different looks you can manage from Holomatrix, so I would put it in the category of 'Most Options.' For $99 for all that you can do with Holomatrix, I definitely recommend picking it up if action or sci-fi (or even fantasy) are on your radar.

Final Comments
It's a very exciting time for microfilmmakers. Amazing tools like After Effects continue to get better, and plug ins like Holomatrix allow you to get a big movie look on a home movie budget. Couple that with the falling cost of technology in the cameras, training like VFX for Directors, and you will be unstoppable!
