Software Review: Motype, Pg. 2

Quick Observations
TEXT- Includes the typical options to change color, font, and displacement; secondary text options allow you to create unique graphical elements from either random text generators or supply your own string of text. It also has a text-based particle system that allows you to create your own custom particle generator! Motion mixer allows you to adjust direction, opacity, origin, etc. without the use of keyframes.

SPEED- It's super-fast on renders and previews, so you spend more time tweaking and creating than waiting for the system to catch up with you. Motype effortlessly generates effects that would normally take several layers and filters to create.

STUNNING PRESETS- if you need to generate a "wow" factor for clients right away, the presets alone are stylish and impressive; yet you are able to tweak many of the elements individually to tailor it to the specific needs of your project. At the same time, the presets allow you to get up and running with the plug-in quickly and easily, allowing you to reverse-engineer and familiarize yourself with all of the options before diving in.

CAMERA SYSTEM- The internal camera system comes with auto-animate options, or you can adjust on your own. Includes easing options for position and rotation.

Presets allow you to get up and running quickly and to learn the plug-in options available.

Wish List
Motype, at least at this point, does not support AE's internal camera or light system, so if you're trying to match your comps you'd have to spend some extra time here. I'd also like to see custom textures/backgrounds supported in the light system and 3D backgrounds, currently you are limited to the pre-supplied textures. Text extrusion would also be a big plus, since it's so spatial it left me wishing there were an option to add some more depth to the text.

Overall Comment
The benefits far outweigh the limitations- this is fairly new at v1.1.1 and I'm sure that further updates will make the plug-in even more adaptable. Priced at just $99, this is a really great value. It will quickly pay for itself both in the time you save and the quality work you can create with it- AND it works in AE, FCP and Motion!
