Software Review: SoundFX III, Pg. 3

My next search for airplane returned 25 hits ranging from ambient noise at an airplane hanger to jet engine sounds. Having been in the military for several years, I can personally attest to the high quality and accuracy that the clips provide. The ambient noise section under the General sound effects section offered an “Ambience Airplane Hangar 2” effect that was fantastic. Layered with the sound of a jet engine arriving at hanger (also provided with SFX3) would without question make the viewer believe that even with a close-up of two flight mechanics in an office, they were just off of the main hanger floor.

Without question Digital Juice’s Sound FX 3 is an amazing offering of high quality sounds spread over a large sampling that can, without question, add something to your next production.

SoundFXIII adds to the current library already offered by Digital Juice. With all three volumes you have over 35,000 sound effects at your disposal. A very complete library for any studio.

Value
With a 96 kHz sample rate, 24 bit sample size, in a pristine stereo PCM format, it’s hard to find fault with any of the sounds offered. Descriptions are acceptable and the Juicer 3 search engine is very competent. 10 DVD’s worth of audio samplings for a retail price of $399, you simply can’t go wrong adding this to your audio catalog.

Final Comments
I am always amazed at the level of quality that Digital Juice puts into each of its offerings. As an owner of many Digital Juice products, it’s nice that I always end up using the new volumes that I order within a matter of days. My latest project needed the sound of a champagne bottle opening. While in hindsight a foley effect could have worked just as well for the small pop and fizz needed, typing in “cork” to the Juicer 3 software provided a champagne cork pop sound effect. Addressing a need and being able to fulfill it in a matter of minutes with reasonably priced content with exceptional quality is what everyone wants in the editing bay. For my money, Digital Juice is the solution.
