Short Critique: Weekend Warriors, Pg. 3

My one complaint would be that the fast food restaurant that Ron and Jack work at wasn't really shown. The only interior shot looked almost like an abandoned building and not like a restaurant at all. This would have likely increased the location rental budget, but it would have looked a lot better. And with as much access as the filmmakers had to decent special effects, they could have perhaps used those effects to create a faux sign for the burger chain.

But even with
these new-found powers...
...The results are
sometimes disasterous.

Lasting Appeal
I found Weekend Warriors a very entertaining film. It was funny and quirky without getting too cheesy. The short length helped a minimal plot from dragging too much, and some really good special effects kept the audience interested. I watched this movie with my husband, and while I was rolling on the floor at some of the dialogue, he was rolling his eyes. Admittedly, he can’t stand Napoleon Dynamite, which is probably why this movie didn’t amuse him. But at the very least, he did enjoy the special effects.

There was very little that needed work; just a few minor issues that should be kept in mind for any future films.

Overall Comment
Weekend Warriors will probably find itself in the cult classics section, but that’s really not a bad place to be as it always provides a very loyal fan base. And its amusing characters could easily work their way into a whole series of short films of their escapades with the supernatural.
