Use
of Audio
The music in Broken is strangely chilling and compelling,
decidedly off-putting with just a touch of an industrial
bondage effect. The dialogue recording is excellent with
only one part of one line that was a bit too soft, and
that seemed to only be due to the fact that it was uttered
into Bonnie's hair by Duncan.
The
sound effects are quite good for virtually all the film,
with excellent gunfire
sounds throughout. The only time the effects were off
is at a key point in the film when Christian fires a shotgun
and the effect that was used sounded like it had been
recorded in an aluminum tunnel, with pinging highs and
not enough bass for realism.
Use
of Budget
The use of budget in this film is simply phenomenal. To
make it even more astounding, according to producer Jorge
Rodriguez, much of the budget of this film didn't go to
light rental, camera rental, effects, gun purchasing,
or costumes, rather much of the film's budget went to
food and beverages. The film was shot in Florida in the
basement of an un-ventilated, dilapidated hospital with
actors wearing hot costumes doing their own stunts and
production personnel having to scramble to shoot everything
in five days, with all of them working under hot lights.
Keeping that in mind, they had to make sure their people
were well fed and well hydrated so that no one passed
out in the midst of all this.
