I attended the Gen Con 2011 convention in Indianapolis, Indiana and I was very lucky to have time to attend a number of panels and discussions hosted by the Gen Con Film Section. I met Ben during the sci-fi shorts panel. Ben Bays has worked on a number of projects including his most current project, Aidan 5 (which he not only shared some of the episodes at the Con, but also took attendees, “Behind the scenes”, of Aidan 5). He agreed to spend some time telling us about his projects, thoughts and views.

MFM v2 goes live…

Long time readers of MFM have known that we've been looking to move into a new CMS system. We are happy to show that we're now in the process of unveilling the new look. While not all of the elements that are going to be unveilled will be functional just yet, we are excited to announce that the new MFM will support full comments from fans and readers, as well as a forum for members, fully community support that will allow you to interact with other filmmakers (much like a facebook for low-budget filmmakers), the ability to subscribe to feeds, articles and reviews every few days (rather than just the first of the month), and very intuitive search options that will make finding your favorite articles much easier!

In October 2012, for both feature and short films, we began offering the hard hitting Straight Shooter Review service, in addition to the critique services we've offered since we began. The Straight Shooter Review is a targeted and to-the-point review that is aimed at film watchers and is perfect for publicity for your film. The critique services are longer, in-depth overviews of what your film did right and wrong for the sole purpose of helping you and other filmmakers make better films. Both have a small fee charged for them due to the time they take and the fact that films submitted here are guaranteed to be covered when officially submitted.
