MZed and Frank Serafine bring to you The Sound Advice Tour. During this 33-city tour attendees will be exposed to an overview of the roles sound plays in a film, web, and broadcast production. Designed for filmmakers, editors, and aspiring sound engineers, this workshop will cover all the techniques and tools needed to expand skills and give attendees a solid foundation to effectively use sound, in a variety of projects.
Frank’s workshop will teach attendees how to implement important functions including: sound recording, sound editing, sound effects, soundtrack, sound mixing, sound design and sound inspiration. Sound alone takes credit for 70% of a movie’s success and, unlike visual presentation sound is a 360-degree experience that surrounds us constantly. The film ‘Creature’ was one of the first films to be shot entirely with the Action Cam.
US campaign commissions over 20 films shot on Action Cams by directors all over the world
Sony Action Cam has teamed up with a diverse range of filmmakers, artists and influencers to create a series of new films celebrating the “never before seen”. Ranging from crafty experiments and audacious stunts to short documentaries, sports adventures and scripted short stories, the films celebrate creativity in all its forms and use Action Cams to provide unique new perspectives on the production process and the stories themselves.
The campaign launched on March 23rd with the debut of three films: “Picture Machine”, “Paperports” and “Creature”. Directed by Studio Nos, Charles Young and Ryan Dzierzek respectively, the variation between the three films is a good indicator of the campaign’s overall breadth. “Picture Machine” documents the construction of a reverse zoetrope, “Paperports” lets us peek into the work and process of Young’s intricate miniature paper architecture practice, and “Creature” tells the tale of a mutant reptile on the loose.read more
Michael Curtis had been a successful and award-winning post production editor before launching into full film productions for a broad range of clients through his company EditLab. Several years ago he formed a film collaborative, Filmstigator, to draw together fellow creatives and produce independent films.

Like many independent filmmakers, he has spent many years doing commercial film projects for clients but finally wanted to create something entirely his own. In this article I will cover Curtis’ entry into the commercial film production world and some of the projects he has worked on. In a second article, I will discuss how Curtis brought all that experience to his first independent film project and the creative process to make "Gift" a reality.
Due to the power of these sort of “meta-concepts,” the draw of incredible, tense movies like The Game, Inside Man, and Ocean's Eleven, and the popularity of things like LARPing, some companies, like Lexington, Kentucky’s The Breakout Games, have decided to see about bringing the metagames found in complex board games and video games and the scenarios reserved to for edge of your seat thriller...
