Editor’s Note: While they may get a bum rap from time to time in the international stage (as do many other countries, including America), there is no doubt that the Avant Garde film movement was essentially birthed by the French and that their pioneering spirit in the realm of motion film would help blaze trails. As such, when the folks at Raffles (a hotel chain that decided use history to inspire people, reached out to us to see if we’d be interested in sharing the following article, I said, “Absolutely!”
